Cory Whalen is a partner and shareholder at SiebenCarey, one of Minnesota’s most established personal injury law firms. He practices in all areas of personal injury litigation, with a focus on complex injury and product liability cases.

He has taught litigation and trial practice, spoken at seminars on trial techniques and evidentiary matters, and handle international complex product liability cases against Japanese, German corporations, and Mack Truck. He has also been listed in Best Lawyers for product liability for several years running. Cory was named to Minnesota’s Personal Injury Power 30 in 2024 and 2025.

Leadership in Trial Law

Cory currently serves as Vice President of the Minnesota Association for Justice (MNAJ) and is slated to become its President. He has previously served in multiple leadership roles within the organization.

He is a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA), an invitation-only organization of experienced trial lawyers who demonstrate substantial courtroom skill, integrity, and professionalism.

Cory is also a Certified Civil Trial Law Specialist, a distinction awarded to fewer than 3% of licensed Minnesota attorneys. The certification is administered by the Minnesota State Bar Association and approved by the State Board of Legal Certification.

Cory has handled complex product liability cases involving Japanese and German corporations, as well as Mack Truck. These cases often require technical expert analysis, extensive discovery, and sustained trial preparation.

He has taught Litigation and Trial Practice at Mitchell Hamline University School of Law and frequently lectures and writes on trial advocacy, evidentiary issues, and courtroom strategy.
